With a changing landscape on CBD and a fast moving marketplace, consumers are being bombarded with information and labels about ingredients. In this article we are going to clear up one of the biggest areas of confusion.
When we see ‘Organic’ written on a product, the natural reaction is to think that this is just another marketing buzzword. However, the differences in products such as CBD between Organic and not so, are very important. So what is Organic CBD? And is it any better than it’s Non-Organic counterpart? Let’s define both:
What is Organic CBD Oil?
‘“Organic CBD oil” (or organic hemp oil) is CBD oil that’s organic on two levels — it’s extracted from organically-grown hemp and then it’s processed with no synthetic chemical additives.’
So, Organic CBD is extracted from clean conditions and is void of any pesticides or enhancements, leaving it a natural oil.
What is Non-Organic CBD Oil?
Inorganic CBD oil refers to the extracted hemp plant that has been exposed to chemicals and pesticides, leaving it susceptible to chemical effects.
Simply put, Non-Organic CBD is just the opposite of Organic, which seems pretty obvious. However with the lack of clear guidelines on what is and isn’t Organic has lead consumers to be left in the dark on their CBD oil purchases.
How do I know the difference in Organic vs Non-Organic CBD Oil?
As we’ve mentioned above, certain vendors won’t necessarily stipulate if their product is Organically sourced. It’s therefore important to do your own research here and if a product is forthcoming with where they source their product, it’s usually a good indication.
Which should I choose?
The short answer is the most obvious. Organic.
If you aren’t necessarily concerned about the effects then you can request third party lab tests which show any contamination. The only way to decide on which type to choose is by looking at the facts. The ‘cleaner’ environment that Organic hemp stems from means it’s not exposed to chemicals or pesticides. Meaning you are less likely to be exposed to toxins.
What types of Organic CBD can you get?
Below is a list of some of the variations in product that Organic CBD is most commonly found in:
- CBD Isolate(Oil) : Usually added to fatty products or liquids and comes in isolation/liquid form.
- Wax: Comes in a thick paste and has a more instant effect, mostly used for Sports injury/muscle soreness.
- Topicals: Soaps, lotions, shampoos etc.
- CBD Edibles: Usually baked goods
- CBD Vapes: Smoked using e-cigs, comes in liquid form.
As you can tell there have become more and more uses and ingenuity when it comes to CBD. However it’s important to know the clear difference between Organic vs Non-Organic CBD. It’s important to remember where and how your CBD oil is sourced, and the above will hopefully keep you informed.
